What we walk on...

 Hello again! So if you're back, wow! Glad to see ya!  Recently I've been reminiscing over all the things we've done to this house in the past four years. It's really been fun to go over pictures and talk about the things we found as we did things. So what was the first thing we did? Flooring... The shag carpeting smelled. Like really smelled. BAD.  I don't really know how anyone lived in that house. Maybe the odor came up so gradually that the folks didn't notice. Maybe as they aged, they lost their sense of smell. All I knew was that the shag carpet had to go. You might remember, it originally looked like this: I totally refused to even bring in furniture until that living room was done. Didn't see the point, as we had not sold in Tennessee, I was still working, and we were just up there on weekends. We basically had a bed in the master bedroom and a table with 2 chairs in the kitchen. Each weekend we did a different project. We had learned several years b...

  Hello, Welcome to my new blog! This is intended to be a place where I write about many, many different things, depending on my obsession of the moment. Hopefully, it will be funny, moving, informative, and deep, but not all of these things at the same time. I will also talk about items that are making the retired life either easier or more fun. I plan to not be very negative. It just so happens that we have enough negativity in this world. So while I am quite aware of the reality of 21st Century life, I want to focus on the blessings, not the curses. That does not mean there will not be an occasional curse word. As I am introducing myself, let me tell you a little about me. I am married with two children, three grandchildren, and lots of nieces and nephews. My mom is still living (nearly 90) so a great deal of my time is spent with her.  In 2020, we purchased an old home in the country with a few acres.
